White Hair? Pulling it out doesn't solve the problem

Quelle: VIDEOELEPHANT (Glomex)

When the first white hairs appear, the initial reaction is to pluck them out. However, dermatologists emphasize that this does not change the biological process. Over time, the stem cells of the hair follicle stop producing melanocytes. Without pigment, the hair loses its color and grows back white. Age is the most common cause, but not the only one. Lack of exercise, alcohol, smoking, vitamin deficiency, and genetic factors also play a role. Chronic stress is another factor as it alters hormones and accelerates the process. Some diseases such as hypothyroidism, vitiligo, and anemia also contribute. Plucking out a hair only removes the visible hair, not the problem. New hairs that grow back will still be white. In addition, repeated plucking can inflame the follicle and cause injuries. In extreme cases, this can even lead to permanent hair loss in the affected area. If white hairs are bothersome for aesthetic reasons, it is recommended to trim or dye them - always being careful not to damage the scalp.
