The Safest Seat in the Car

Quelle: VIDEOELEPHANT (Glomex)

Whoever believes that the choice of seat in the car doesn't matter is mistaken. The middle, rear seat offers the best chances of survival in accidents. Studies show that individuals in this seat have about 46% higher chances of surviving fatal collisions. Even when comparing only the rear seats, the probability is still 13% higher. But why is the middle seat safer? Everything is related to the vehicle design and the programmed crumple zones. These areas absorb the impact and protect the person in the middle. In frontal, rear, or side collisions, there are consistently fewer severe injuries in this seat. However, it is not enough to just sit there - the seat belt is essential. Current research shows that passengers without a belt on the rear seat have a significantly higher risk of serious injuries and hospital stays. The likelihood of not wearing a belt on the rear seat is even up to five times higher. There is no "perfectly safe" seat - only safe behaviors. Every ride requires attention, consistency, and respect for safety rules. Choosing the right seat and fastening the seat belt significantly increases your chances of surviving an accident unharmed.
