USA: Ducklings rescued after falling into rain drain on busy highway

The call unexpectedly concerned two ducklings that had fallen into a rain drain while a citizen was trying to rescue them as they crossed the highway. The mother duck was nowhere to be seen, and with US 19 being a busy road, it was unclear what had happened. Thanks to the helpful citizen and Deputies Urf and Norton, the ducklings were safely rescued; they appeared unharmed and were taken to the Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife for examination. Officials advised people who find injured or orphaned wildlife to call first so that professionals can guide them on whether and how to help before they arrive. They also recommended only helping if it is safe, not offering food or water to injured wildlife, observing from a distance, and keeping other people and pets away from the area.
