Japan launches mini-rover Idefix on daring mission to Mars moon Phobos

Japan launched a space probe toward the Martian moon Phobos overnight into Tuesday, aiming to bring back the first-ever samples from the tiny moon. The five-year mission – a collaboration between several space agencies – carries a mini-rover named Idefix. If all goes to plan, the Phobos samples will reach Earth in 2031.
