Two separate aviation incidents struck Missouri and California on October 17. In St. Louis, an American Eagle Bombardier CRJ 900 bound for Philadelphia suffered several reportedly violent malfunctions before initiating an emergency landing shortly after take-off. In San Jose, a Cessna 177A nosedived into a busy road. Its occupants suffered only non-life-threatening injuries.
