The striker of Al-Nassr and the Portuguese national team, Cristiano Ronaldo, has stated that the World Cup next year will be his 'definitely' last. In an interview with CNN, Ronaldo, who will be participating in his sixth World Cup finals, also said that he plans to stop playing football 'very soon.' 'I enjoy the moment, but when I say 'soon,' I mean really soon, because I have given everything to football. I have been in the game for 25 years[...] I have set many records in different competitions, in clubs and also in national teams. I am very proud - so let's enjoy the moment, live the moment,' said Ronaldo. Ronaldo was the first male player to score a goal in five World Cups (most recently in Qatar 2022). However, he is still missing the coveted World Cup title. The 41-year-old won the European Championship with Portugal in 2016 as well as the Nations League in 2019 and 2025. With 143 international goals, Ronaldo not only holds the record for Portugal but also the global record for the most goals by a player in the history of international football. The 2026 World Cup, to be held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, will include 48 teams for the first time. The draw will take place on December 5 in Washington, D.C.
